Side 1
Empire Express
Wow, there’s a lot of running away stories!
Ha, call this guy
I’m at the station,
Gonna need some help…
Red Central
Now for a sign…
I had no money.
Enough money to buy a ticket to go.
Burns inside my chest
there’s a dark sun that glows
I wanted to just get away,
Hahaha
I had, ha! intentions to just…
No oxygen
Except in my, my blood
I was gonna do this.
There is a dark sun
That writes sad stories on the insides of my veins.
Anyway I bought this ticket
And I must’ve spent everything I had on this ticket.
…escape the heat in summer right now
There is a dark sun that glows
Grounds my weight,
Good afternoon passengers
Heavy.
Herr Hauptmann
…. the bush and said,”Moses, Moses”
will be the 3:04 train,
Stopping all stations.
Burning Bush Blues
a dark sun
That’s disturbing
no oxygen except
Eventually took me in to the local
‘Loony bin’.
Sometimes break
woohoo
on the insides of my veins
your worst nightmare
jawohl, Herr Hauptmann
lights on the mountainside
Sometimes break and tear away.
bush that burns
the bush does not burn
Like my legs
that are running
to the insides of your arms,
the only ones that know
Herr Hauptmann
How to hold me.
Waiting Room
When we said goodbye,
You didn’t leave any clue.
At one point
It is ok
I must’ve been pretty
sort of boisterous,
talking a lot.
scared it won’t breathe again
Its ok to be
gotta go down
happy
As soon as I got there
gotta go down deep
I dunno what I’m gonna do now.
I don’t have a plan,
and I’ve got no money.
ba bah ba da dah
The Painted Desert
and eventually got to this lake,
There’s this band there:
you can pick the eyes out of something
Ha haha haha Ha ha
the cheque’s in the mail
I think she did.. but I can’t..
Did I know where I was?
the back paddock
She had no teeth.
Oh, yeah, I’m pretty sure she had no teeth,
But she actually could talk.
So whenever she saw me,
She would say things like:
“Why do your eyes stick out like that?”
ha ha ha! Ha!
“Why, why are your eyes so big?”
Ha!
She tried to actually attack me,
I’m trying to remember.
Aah..
I sort of think she did
But I can’t remember actually.
to you
now
arriving home to you
Trying not to..
Day Seventeen
..So I said,
I probably should call my family
and tell them where I am, what’s going on.
One of the guys,
shepherds with flocks and..
Disturbed and bothered by
the mountain side
the volume that I was making,
the bush that burns
He just turns to me and he says:
the bush does not burn
What is he talking about?
So shocked..
The next thing I knew I was looking up
And trying to find this…
Tropical Storm Lydia..
Cops
Coming towards me
And I remember they gave me a blanket
Cover yourself up

Side 2
Pillars of Salt
The obvious is so hidden sometimes
Stories stitched
I saw some photos the other the day,
Connecting tissue
Of a time where I was happy.
How are you?
Chalk of my bones
I know you’re struggling.
It made me wonder if it would happen again
Begging in their stomachs
Something that reaches out to touch
Danced
Something
To remember
Again and again
Painted
We are only ever alone together.
the first two beats are slow
Wait until I find you again.
Maybe we can have a tea party in the sand,
Like old times.
Hold my hand
And say it was just a dream.
You, who always stays,
Dance the dance of fire,
Dance the dance of rain.
You, I put on my costume
anyway
for another day.
Waiting Room 2
Ah, I can swim, swim across this lake.
And he comes up to me, pushes me.
And there was this guy on this canoe, this old man,
And he says, “What are you on?”
“What drugs are you taking?”
I’d never taken any drugs in my life.
“Nothing, I’m not on anything.”
So I swam to the middle of the lake.
Had a bit a of a swim around
Got to the other side of the lake.
Then I just started running
I was so shocked
Get off me.
Don’t f***ing touch me.
Uh huh, yeah alright
You leave in the evening and arrive in the morning, maybe.
Young Joe’s Rag
and I just think he’s the bee’s knees
..but I just fall in love with him, instantly
and we’re just chatting:
Chatting, chatting, chatting.
…charging out of full forward
What did you do?
to the right, to the left
This is where it is, let’s go…
and straight through the middle.
Hah! How old were you?
Hello? Hey darling!
What? Do you remember why you left?
Pssst
Yeah
What did you do? What’s your..
Not sure.
Oh, ha!
Cooee!
Carmena
(Remember to blow out the candles).
I was at my Mum’s house.
My Mum loves Christmas decorations.
My brother comes home…
What’s that on the train tracks? Oh.
Santa, Santa, Santa…
Lots of candles…
And I lit all of the candles,
and just, psshht, passed out.
House on Fire
Opens up the door
and its just filled with smoke.
Smell smoke
Hauptmann…
Can’t get, get downstairs
Herr Hauptmann…
my God, Fire
Just standing watching the house burn
Fire!
just gonna go back in
The Fire Brigade
So I run back in
It was pretty hot
Being in there smelling the smoke..
Oh, this is dangerous,
I need to get out of here.
All the fire
trucks came.
gonna be your worst nightmare
It’s just full of fire,
It’s just flames everywhere.
down down
Ward D
Not in a fit state
Hey mum…
Ha ha ha!
..evacuate now
evacuate as directed..
aargh!
Help!
Dumdum dum dum da dum.
Hail Mary full of Grace
Blessed art thou among women
Please get me out of here
Please please please please get me out.
Fragments pieced back together,
tender with truth.
I’ve been peering out at you for years,
hoping you will finally take me in.
