Burns inside my chest there’s a dark sun that glows I wanted to just get away, Hahaha I had, ha! intentions to just… No oxygen Except in my, my blood I was gonna do this. There is a dark sun That writes sad stories on the insides of my veins. Anyway I bought this ticket And I must’ve spent everything I had on this ticket. …escape the heat in summer right now There is a dark sun that glows Grounds my weight, Good afternoon passengers Heavy. Burning Bush Blues a dark sun That’s disturbing no oxygen except Eventually took me in to the local ‘Loony bin’. Waiting Room When we said goodbye, You didn’t leave any clue. At one point It is ok I must’ve been pretty sort of boisterous, talking a lot. scared it won’t breathe again Its ok to be gotta go down happy As soon as I got there gotta go down deep I dunno what I’m gonna do now. I don’t have a plan, and I’ve got no money. ba bah ba da dah The Painted Desert and eventually got to this lake, There’s this band there: you can pick the eyes out of something Ha haha haha Ha ha the cheque’s in the mail I think she did.. but I can’t.. Did I know where I was? the back paddock She had no teeth. Oh, yeah, I’m pretty sure she had no teeth, But she actually could talk. So whenever she saw me, She would say things like: “Why do your eyes stick out like that?” ha ha ha! Ha! “Why, why are your eyes so big?” Ha! She tried to actually attack me, I’m trying to remember. Aah.. I sort of think she did But I can’t remember actually. to you now arriving home to you Trying not to.. Day Seventeen ..So I said, I probably should call my family and tell them where I am, what’s going on. One of the guys, shepherds with flocks and.. Disturbed and bothered by the mountain side the volume that I was making, the bush that burns He just turns to me and he says: the bush does not burn What is he talking about? So shocked.. The next thing I knew I was looking up And trying to find this… Tropical Storm Lydia.. Cops Coming towards me And I remember they gave me a blanket Cover yourself up

Side 2 Pillars of Salt The obvious is so hidden sometimes Stories stitched I saw some photos the other the day, Connecting tissue Of a time where I was happy. How are you? Chalk of my bones I know you’re struggling. It made me wonder if it would happen again Begging in their stomachs Something that reaches out to touch Danced Something To remember Again and again Painted We are only ever alone together. the first two beats are slow Wait until I find you again. Maybe we can have a tea party in the sand, Like old times. Hold my hand And say it was just a dream. You, who always stays, Dance the dance of fire, Dance the dance of rain. You, I put on my costume anyway for another day. Waiting Room 2 Ah, I can swim, swim across this lake. And he comes up to me, pushes me. And there was this guy on this canoe, this old man, And he says, “What are you on?” “What drugs are you taking?” I’d never taken any drugs in my life. “Nothing, I’m not on anything.” So I swam to the middle of the lake. Had a bit a of a swim around Got to the other side of the lake. Then I just started running I was so shocked Get off me. Don’t f***ing touch me. Uh huh, yeah alright You leave in the evening and arrive in the morning, maybe. Young Joe’s Rag and I just think he’s the bee’s knees ..but I just fall in love with him, instantly and we’re just chatting: Chatting, chatting, chatting. …charging out of full forward What did you do? to the right, to the left This is where it is, let’s go… and straight through the middle. Hah! How old were you? Hello? Hey darling! What? Do you remember why you left? Pssst Yeah What did you do? What’s your.. Not sure. Oh, ha! Cooee! Carmena (Remember to blow out the candles). I was at my Mum’s house. My Mum loves Christmas decorations. My brother comes home… What’s that on the train tracks? Oh. Santa, Santa, Santa… Lots of candles… And I lit all of the candles, and just, psshht, passed out. House on Fire Opens up the door and its just filled with smoke. Smell smoke Hauptmann… Can’t get, get downstairs Herr Hauptmann… my God, Fire Just standing watching the house burn Fire! just gonna go back in The Fire Brigade So I run back in It was pretty hot Being in there smelling the smoke.. Oh, this is dangerous, I need to get out of here. All the fire trucks came. gonna be your worst nightmare It’s just full of fire, It’s just flames everywhere. down down Ward D Not in a fit state Hey mum… Ha ha ha! ..evacuate now evacuate as directed.. aargh! Help! Dumdum dum dum da dum. Hail Mary full of Grace Blessed art thou among women Please get me out of here Please please please please get me out. Fragments pieced back together, tender with truth. I’ve been peering out at you for years, hoping you will finally take me in.

This album tells the inner story of Lydia B. It is a psycho-musical mapping of her journey through real and imagined Australian landscapes.

The recording is dedicated to the memory of Mark Gili, Andy Armiger-Grant and to all those affected by the crisis in mental health. Carmena is dedicated to the memory of Pete’s mum. Young Joe was written for Joe Daniher and Peter Tyndall. Proceeds from this project will be donated Victorian mental health services.
